Another invention from the US Forest Service (Thanks Malcolm!), the McLeod is a fireline essential but has found many uses outside of its original design.
With a massive head sporting a rake/hoe combo, this giant hand excavator can make quick work of obstacles in your path, while still being chivalrous enough to help you dial in your project's finishing touches.
- Ideal for raking large trail debris, tamping tread, back-sloping, cutting tread
- 7” 3-sided cutting head, 5 tine rake
- Hardened steel blade from repurposed agriculture discs (eco-friendly!)
- Fiberglass handle reduces weight without compromising strength
- Made in the USA
- 5.5 lbs
Received my tool and was amazed at how great it was packaged! It took nearly 20 minutes to remove the packing material around the blades. Needless to say, for a tool meant to cut roots and shape dirt, it arrived perfect. As for its use, it’s been a very useful implement. I really like the top being rounded. I imagine this helps when you tamper down berms. Wasn’t even looking at it for that reason and it’s got to be the coolest thing about it right now. All other features work as advertised and that’s awesome. So far been using it around my farm but waiting for the local trail groups on a call out. It’s nice to get something that is a good as I its hype. This thing rocks.
