light and strong!

snapped 2 "standard" mcleods and ordered a Clyde to hold me over until I can get the handles replaced. Now, I'm not sure if I even want to. I was nervous due to the review claiming the head bent, but I have been bashing this thing into rocky rooty soil and it has been tearing through it. It is so unbelievably light, I was sure it was going to bend. While it has been chewing through the ground, I was surprised it didn't seem to come with any sharpened edges. Also the hoe side could be a little longer, im worried im going to bash the handle on a rock while tomahawking a serious root... minor suggestions for a great tool. Oh right and even if I do wreck the handle, it will be simple to replace thanks to the bolt!

Bends

The tool looks good and is light which I like. However the tines started to bend after ten minutes of use. I don’t thing the steel is hardened enough or is not tool steel. From the point of opening the tool I could already see fiberglass hairs on the handle. So I clear coated the handle to keep from getting the dreaded fiber splinters. I wouldn’t buy it again

Hi Mark,

We're very sorry to hear that the Clyde did not live up to your expectations! The tools are pretty burly in our experience and shouldn't have incurred damage ten minutes into building trail. If you wouldn't mind checking your email, I have sent you a message to get you started with the warranty process and make this right for you.
