Product of the Week: Nupla McLeod
What's your go to, versatile tool that is brought onto every project? While we know there are some specific tools for different trails, the Nupla Mcleod is one versatile tool that we'll bring out for a lot of projects.
The Mcleod has a longstanding history in the forest service, both with trail building and with wildland firefighting. The Mcleod type tools are known for their large, hoe-like blade on one side with the 6 tined rake on the other.
We recommend this for removing dirt from the tread, or tamping the tread at the end. Depending on the terrain, the Nupla Mcleod works well for creating and shaping the backslope. It works wonders when working the downslope while moving dirt and debris from the critical edge.
The Nupla Mcleod comes with the Nuplaglas® handle, a light-weight, but sturdy proprietary fiberglass that is resistant to heat, weather, chemicals, and bugs, making it a favorite for firefighters and those working in adverse conditions.
The Nupla Mcleod comes in handy when you need a tamping tool as well; it's large, flat head working well to tamp the soil.
